From Ashes Arose The Phoenix
Since its inception in 1986, Dean Catamarans progressively turned out eye-catching catamarans till it sunk into liquidation in 2013, with one hull still unfinished. As fate would have it, that hull was intended for Tamas Hamor, an international charter captain. Not wanting to leave Tamas stranded, Rudolf Jonker, the designer of that Dean 500, helped Tamas finish the yacht.
Another whose eyes the Dean 500 had attracted was Clinton Johns, an engineer whose company supplied composites and resins to the boat industry. Clinton had spent life closely connected to the sea and took every opportunity to learn about boat building from the yards. From the stranded Dean crew like Rudolf, Clinton resurrected the company as Phoenix Catamaran, with a new spirit to rethink and redesign the boundaries of what life at sea could be. It would be a collaboration, with Tamas and his US partners forming the Xquisite sales and distribution brand for the new boats.
The first new yacht, the X5, announced Phoenix’s entry into the catamaran world by stunning reviewers and winning the 2017 Cruising World Boat of the Year award.
Our Message To The World
Fulfillment awaits us in the gap between who we are, and who we have the potential to be. Too few people ever cross that chasm. Often it is our beliefs that confine us or simply the fear that we might fail trying. Many of our customers have the soul of explorers. Fulfillment for them is pushing against those infinite boundaries of hidden beauty unseen to most. No one finds fulfillment the same way.
Our best people didn’t inherit their craft from past generations. Most didn’t start out on the path they’re on now. Sometimes an ember of belief in someone dares them to believe there is more to life for them too. Contributing to something exceptional is something everyone owns. It inspires within us a burning passion for knowledge and each one’s mastery of their own potential. That is the presence of pride you might feel in every panel. It is the thought embedded in every feature of your experience. And as you use your yacht to challenge your own possibilities, your courage will inspire others to dare for a life at sea.
