Community Fulfilment

For millennia, people have boarded ships or trekked across vast lands for the chance at a fresh start and opportunity. Atlantis, the home of the Phoenix boatyard, sits a 40 minute drive from the vibrant city of Cape Town.

Dubbed by the media as the “forgotten community”, our story is the inspiration to bring opportunity home to our community rather than force it to flee. Together with the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services – Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA), Phoenix is working on realising the vision of a Phoenix Academy. Its mission: to take unemployed people off the streets and close the skills gaps in the wider boat building industry.
